Some Thoughts

Hello readers,

I went camping last week and had an amazing time! The downside was it put me way behind on homework, so it was kind of a rough week. Plus work has been crazy lately.

I finished reading Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood while I was camping. I loved it, and I will definitely want to read the rest of the MaddAddam series. I was also fortunate to catch some trout, they were delicious.

I started reading a piece by a local author here in Colorado, and I’m enjoying her work thus far, but we’ll leave more detail on that when I finish reading it.

I’ve been working on Last Ark a bit, and I’m just under 15,000 words, so there’s definitely a lot more to do with it. Much of the story continues to elude me, but I think it will become more clear as I keep working on it. I think it’s partially because the character of Evelyn is little hard for me to wrap my head around. Also being in a first person POV limits so much of the perspective in the story.

As for the upcoming short story, I’m planning on getting an outline together soon, perhaps tomorrow. Maybe taking a break from Last Ark and working on something else will give more clarity as well. The main thing I’m not clear on for the short story is theme.

I don’t want to give a promised time for the short story, but I’ll get to work on it. I’d also like to get some more detailed maps with close ups on each separate realm within Sciath. I suppose I do have one already written that with a little editing could go up sooner than a new story.

I’ve been struggling with my depression the last few weeks. On top of that, a friend of mine who I’ve known pretty much my whole life passed away from cancer. I hadn’t spoken to him in years, but he was in my section (saxophone) in high school band.

Anyway, I’ll keep my ramblings brief. Bear with me, my friends.
